If You Want to Double Your Income…
Saturday, November 20th, 2010Yesterday while I waited for AAA to replace my battery (stranded in a parking lot in the middle of running an errand!), I sat listening to a Vic Johnson* audio that I downloaded to my phone. Vic asked a question that struck me:
What is the difference between someone who earns $10,000 a month and the person who earns $25,000 a month?
I stopped the recording and pulled out a pen and paper. Some of the items on my list were:
- They delegate more.
- Their desk is clear.
- They take more quiet time to think, plan, and dream.
- They exercise regularly to support their health.
Obviously, those are things I need to take time to do – right now! I challenge you to ask yourself the same question and make your own list. Of course, if you earn $2000 or $20,000 right now, change the numbers accordingly, e.g.:
What is the difference between someone who earns $2,000 a month and the person who earns $5,000 a month?
What is the difference between someone who earns $20,000 a month and the person who earns $50,000 a month?
* Btw, if you don't know who Vic Johnson is, I recommend signing up for his free book offer for Think and Grow Rich. If you haven't read it, you need to! It's a classic that has been recommended by motivational greats like Jim Rohn and Bob Proctor. Even if you already own the book, it's worth signing up just to get on this e-mail list. I really respect this guy.
Okay, take out your pen and paper and answer the "What is the difference between …" question! It might just give you some answers that cause your income to double.

Say Thanks by Giving
Thursday, November 18th, 2010Seasonally correct (after all, we are approaching Thanksgiving), but a little off the topic of business… Unless you agree that the habit of giving is a wealth magnet for you and your business. (See Dan Kennedy's No B.S. Wealth Attraction In The New Economy, wealth magnet number 25.) Or to say it another way: Giving is part of the receiving cycle. One reason to be wealthy is so that you're more able to give!
YourBizLady supports giving. A portion of all income from this site (all those little hyperlinks and affiliate programs that bring in a few pennies or dollars here or there) is donated to charities that provide a hand up. My favorite is Heifer International. They provide a hand up to help people out of poverty and into self-reliance.
A new organization – Seva.org – has come to my attention. Since I'm cautious about giving to an organization where most of the money just goes to support the organization instead of the cause, I decided to check them out – and they do!
Hooray for the Internet! Did you know there's an easy way to find out if an organization is really doing what they claim? You can check them out through the Better Business Bureau. The BBB has a Charity accountability checklist – 20 items that they review, and an in-depth report you can read that shows the percent that actually makes it back to the people it is intended to help.

Provocations and Destiny
Sunday, November 14th, 2010The following is a delightful excerpt from Warrior of the Light, by Paulo Coelho.
The Warrior of the Light… Knows what he is capable of; he does not have to go about the world boasting of his qualities and virtues. Nevertheless, there is always someone who wants to prove himself better than he is.
… Certain people insist. They provoke and offended do everything they can to irritate him. At that point, his heart says: "do not respond to these insults, they will not increase your abilities. You will tire yourself needlessly."

Warrior of the Light is a great little book, and easy read: short notes on accepting failure, embracing life, and rising through destiny.

I'm reading Dan Kennedy's No B.S. Wealth Attraction in the New Economy. In it he discusses, in detail, 28 different Wealth Magnets. One magnet is "No Fear!" Dan sites founders of Disney, Wal-Mart, and Folgers as people who went through bankruptcy, but they didn't let that stop them. He also says "Every client I've ever had who made a fear-based business decision has later regretted it."
So take a few minutes out of your busy day, sit quietly, and ask yourself: "Which of my recent decisions were fear-based?" Can you reverse that decision? What new decisions need to be made? If you could (would?) set your fear aside, what is the decision you'd rather make?
…then go do that!
