No B.S. Business Success
Monday, June 21st, 2010I've just started a New Book (which doesn't mean I've finished all the rest – I usually have a few on the go at one time).
Have you heard of Dan Kennedy? I love this guy! He's updated his classic No B.S. Business Success – already updated a few times, and this one with 50% new material. Something that didn't change is his Eternal Truth #1: "Every successful achievement begins with decision. Most unsuccessful lives are conspicuously absent of decision."
What have you decided to do this week, this month, this year… and what are you doing to make it happen?
If you want to read Dan's book, make sure you buy the latest edition: No B.S. Business Success in the New Economy [2010].
As a friend of mine is fond of saying…
Make it a great day!

Grant money and other resources
Sunday, June 13th, 2010Hi everyone
Yesterday was an informative-packed day with Sherry Watson: a woman who has raised over $130 million dollars in Grant Money. In another hour I'll meet my brother and his family for lunch (they are two hours east of here) and tomorrow starts a week with my DC client.
Right now I'm here in a hotel room in DC, catching up on email. This just in from one of my favorite marketers: Resource for Entrepreneurs. Check it out and see if there is anything there you can use.
Cheers!

How to get there from here
Friday, June 11th, 2010Are you doing things in the right sequence to achieve your dreams? If you're not, it's like trying to drive somewhere and scrambling the directions before you start out. ("Go 5 blocks and turn right" lands you in a VERY different place if you didn't first turn left at the traffic light!)
To hear some incredible business sequencing pointers from an expert in her field, click here: Business Transformation. (Yes, that's my affiliate link.
) Listen to what Maria is offering, then sign up! You will receive her "Business Transformation Kit". It includes an Audio download of "7 Practical Steps To Create The Business Of Your Dreams."
Listen carefully and take serious notes! We all tend to try to do step 6 in our businesses way before we do 1 through 5 – but that's just crazy-making! It delays use from reaching our vision.
Go there Now, and make your business dreams a reality!
Here's to ALL of our successes!

What’s YOUR story?

Why NOW Is the Time to Cash In on Your Passion
Monday, May 31st, 2010Hello business owners — and those of you interested in starting your own business
I've just read an incredible book by
Gary Vaynerchuk, known for his Wine Library TV, a series of online videos about – you guessed it! – his passion, wine. If your business is your passion, and you haven't been cashing in on it, making the kind of money you had hoped for, how can you change that? If you're in the business that doesn't excite you, why not start one that does?
Gary states clearly that this is not an overnight exercise. He does promise – given some time, passion and effort – that you can crush the market. His book is chock-full of suggestions, ideas, and resources. And it's an easy read. Winston Churchill said, "History will be kind to me for I intend to write it." Crush It!: Why NOW Is the Time to Cash In on Your Passion is all about writing your own history.
Happy reading!

Vetting – making intelligent choices
Tuesday, May 25th, 2010The term "vetting" seems to be popping up everywhere lately. It's something all business owners should be aware of. Wikepedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vetting) describes it as follows:
"Vetting is a process of examination and evaluation, generally referring to performing a background check on someone before offering him or her employment, conferring an award, etc. In addition, in intelligence gathering, assets are vetted to determine their usefulness."
Vetting is something you should do with every person or company that you do business with. It will give you more "intelligence" about them, which in turn will
- Improve your decision-making,
- Provide more information to base your stand during negotiations, and
- Help set expectations.
Here's to happy vetting!

Monday, May 24th, 2010I've just spent a few days at the CEO Space* May forum where Brett Harward was one of the favorite speakers, rocking the world of a few business owners with his information. According to Brett, the first law of business says "It is impossible to manage or control what you cannot or do not measure." Learning the language of numbers can improve your success as a business owner. They can
- Increase the speed of decision making.
- Be used as a measurement for organizational accountability.
- Identify where to focus management attention.
When the CEO or business owner is accountable to specific numbers within a specific time frame, then there are quantifiable, measurable results. If you want to learn more about numbers management and revolutionize your business, check out his free training videos at ItIsArevolution.com.

Dream Building
Tuesday, May 18th, 2010Hi everyone
I recently had the opportunity to hear Mary Morrissey speak. Amongst other things, she talked about the six mental faculties that can make a difference in your business, in your life:
- Imagination
- Intuition
- Perception
- Memory
- Will
- Reason
I especially like what she had to say about the middle two:
- Perception – YOU decide what something means!
- Memory – Look forward to the results you want, and "remember" who you became to achieve that

Friday, May 14th, 2010Have you discovered Dan Kennedy's books yet? I've just started his "No B.S. Time Management for Entrepreneurs." Here are some of his strategies to keep your meetings short and productive:
- Set the meetings for immediately before lunch or at the end of the day, so the vampires are eager to get it done and over with, turn into bats, and fly out of there.
- Don't serve refreshments.
- Circulate a written agenda in advance.
- Have and communicate a clear, achievable objective for the meeting.
I highly recommend his book! Click the link below.
